Split string by delimiters in bash

In a bash script, take a string, take values between predefined delimiters (“;” in this case) and put them into an array. Then output one of the values.

myString="00000:111111:22222:33333"
IFS=':' read -a array <<<"$myString"
echo "${array[1]}"
