Play encrypted DVD on Ubuntu

You have a computer with Ubuntu 10.10 installed. You want to play a video DVD, but it just does not work. You want to make a copy of it (for legal reasons, like backup or playing it on your DVR), but it does not work either. Some other of your DVDs play just fine, but not this one.

Obviously the DVD is encrypted. But you can fix this issue very easily by running the following command, which will download and install libraries needed to be able to open encrypted video DVDs:

sudo apt-get install libdvdread4 vlc && sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

P.S.
If you have older version of Ubuntu the name of the library may be libdvdread3.
